Appro degrees
During Turku Day Appro, you visit checkpoints, complete tasks and collect stamps on your appro map. By collecting at least six stamps, you complete a fun degree and earn the Turku Day Appro overall patch and are a step closer to the “Turku All-Star” patch!
Appro degrees:
- 6 stamps – Turun päivän appro
- 9 stamps – Junantuoma turkulaine
- 12 stamps – Paljasjalkane turkulaine
You receive the Föri-seilori-patch when you complete the appro with at least 6 stamps and show a previously earned Junantuoma turkulaine- or Paljasjalkane turkulaine-patch during map return.
You earn the Turku All-Star-patch when you complete the appro with at least 6 stamps and show the Föri-Seilori-patch sewn onto your overalls!
Only one degree can be completed during the appro. Don’t forget to sew on your previous years’ patches onto your overalls!

Activation of appro maps and patch exchange
The starting point for Turku Day Appro is the info point at the Old Great Square, where map activation starts at 10 AM. Maps are available in limited numbers. The appro can be completed between 10 AM – 6 PM. Checkpoint opening hours vary, so please check the appro map!
Maps with stamps can be exchanged for overall patches untill 6 PM at the info point. No advance registration is required for the appro.

Appro App
This year, for the first time, we’re using the Appro App instead of traditional paper appro maps. Tap NFC tags at each venue to collect digital stamps! In addition to the pass, the Appro App features an interactive appro map and several other useful features. Make your appro experience smoother by, for example, keeping an eye on the queues at the appro checkpoints!
Here’s how it works:
- Download the Appro App from your app store and register. Please note that the username you choose will be visible to other appro participants on the leaderboard.
- Add your ticket to the app by scanning your NFC card at the exchange point (Old Great Square). The event pass and map will be activated once you have added your ticket.
- Collect stamps at the appro venues by pressing the orange scanning button at the bottom of the screen.
- Once you have completed your appro, confirm your performance at the exchange point according to the instructions and exchange your stamped map for the awesome Turku Day Appro overall patches!
Please download the app and register in advance to avoid queues at the exchange point. Maps can be activated at the Old Great Square from 10 AM onwards, and patch exchanges are possible there until 6 PM.
Does your device not have an NFC reader? No worries!
You can participate in the appro by sharing your pass with a friend who can collect stamps for you. (The app will let you know after registration if this is necessary!)
First, add your ticket manually by entering the ticket code you received at the exchange point. After this, you can share your pass from the Settings page in the app. Once your friend has scanned the QR code displayed on your screen, they can collect stamps for both passes and switch between the two pass views.
Before scanning, the app will ask which pass the stamp should be added to. The stamps will also be updated on your own device, and you can follow the appro map as usual.
PLEASE NOTE! To prevent misuse, a pass can generally only be shared with one friend and only once.
